He stared anxiously at the machine. In a few seconds, his life would be changed. He started to think about the consequences. No more enduring the loud-mouthed neighbour. No more reading newspaper at the bus stop. No more watching cricket at the corner tea shop. No more "if only". The constant beeping of the machine broke his amusing reverie and out came the crisp green bills - his first salary!
