She was in pain, real pain. She wanted it to end now. She saw a hint of tears in his eyes and holding on to his hand, she thought about all the good times they had shared.
It was almost perfect. How they fell in love and got married. How much she loved him and how he took care of her all this time, never leaving her alone. Both of them knew this was bound to happen sooner or later. She stared deep into his eyes before tightly shutting hers. The time had come.
Trying not to scream out loud, she squeezed his hand one last time and heard the doctor say, “Congratulations! It’s a girl!”
